July 17th. 2011:
- Modern Family has received 17 Emmy nominations, including outstanding comedy series, which the show won last year for its freshman season. Let’s hope for another win, plus more wins in the other categories. Congratulations. Check this link for the complete Modern Family nominations.
- Modern Family star Nolan Gould has joined the cast of The To Do List. Gould will play Max, the leader of the Pool Rats in the Maggie Carey film. He and his gang spend the summer hanging out at their local pool, creating mischief and figuring out what the older kids are doing. He will star opposite Andy Samberg, Bill Hader and Parks and Recreation actress Aubrey Plaza. It is slated for a 2013 release. Source
- Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) has joined the coming-of-age comedy Struck by Lightning. Written by and starring Chris Colfer (Glee), the pic recently began principal photography under the steady hand of director Brian Dannelly (Saved!) and is told in flashback from the perspective of a young man (Colfer) who was struck and killed by lightning. Per the press release, the guts of the film will document his “exploits as he blackmails his fellow senior classmates into contributing to a literary magazine he’s publishing.” Christina Hendricks and Dermot Mulroney have also joined the cast. - The Emmy nominations announcement is next week but the producers of Modern Family have already chosen the six episodes in for best comedy series, in case the show is nominated in the category. Here are the six episodes: Source
Phil (Burrell), Claire (Bowen) and the family take the old station wagon out for one last trip. Gloria (Vergara) is upset when Manny (Rico Rodriguez) invites a girl over to study. Mitchell (Ferguson) and Cameron (Stonestreet) try to build a princess castle for their daughter. “THE KISS” (Sept. 29, 2010)
Cameron is upset that Mitchell never likes to display public affection. Alex (Ariel Winter) likes a boy but is not getting any help from her mother or sister. Gloria wants to cook more Colombian meals like her grandmother. “MANNY, GET YOUR GUN” (Nov. 17, 2010)
It’s Manny’s birthday, but he is suffering a crisis about getting older. Phil and Claire have a car race to the birthday party. Cameron and Mitchell visit the mall to pick up a gift. “CAUGHT IN THE ACT” (Jan. 19, 2011)
Phil and Claire are “caught in the act” when their kids bring them breakfast in bed. Mitchell and Cameron woo the owner of a hot new restaurant. Gloria accidentally sends a tough email to Claire and wants to get it back before it is read. “SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER LILY” (April 20, 2011)
Mitchell and Cameron start secretly monitoring their family members to determine which ones will be the best to possibly be Lily’s godparents. “MOTHER’S DAY” (May 4, 2011)
Phil witnesses Jay (O’Neill) break down a little when remembering his mother’s cooking. Claire and Gloria take the kids on a hiking trip where nothing much goes right. Cameron starts being concerned when people consider him to be the “mother” and Mitchell as the “father.”
- Modern Family producers have posted a casting notice for Lily, asking for an “Asian, 3- to 4-year-old daughter of Mitchell and Cameron.” This means the role of Lily, played for the first two season by Jaden and Ella Hiller, is being recast. We’ll miss the Hiller Twins. Source

- Season 3 News: The 1 hour premiere episode seems to be a family vacation episode. The producers of the show have chosen Jackson Hole, Wyo, the resort town as their top pick but that network approval is still pending. The proposal would have the show’s characters on a family vacation at the Lost Creek Ranch, a lodge and spa. Source
