  • Dexter Jennifer Carpenter will guest star on CBS’ acclaimed Sunday night drama The Good Wife, in an episode set to air before the end of the year, likely in late December. She will play a soft-spoken university professor who is fired due to her conservative religious and political beliefs. Alicia and Caitlin (Anna Camp) represent the prof in a suit against Louis Canning (Emmy nominee Michael J. Fox) and his firm. Source
  • Legally Blonde and American Pie actress Jennifer Coolidge is joining the cast of CBS’ hot freshman comedy 2 Broke Girls as a recurring. She will play Sophie, a hardworking woman that moves into Max (Kat Dennings) and Caroline’s (Beth Behrs) apartment building in Williamsburg Brooklyn. It is a role that is being created specifically for her. Source
  • British comedian Catherine Tate is returning to The Office in February for an arc that will carry through for the remainder of the season. Tate will reprise her role from last May’s finale as misguided special projects manager Nellie Bertram, who was one of the candidates interviewing to replace Michael Scott (Steve Carell) as the manager of Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch (a gig that ultimately went to Ed Helms’ Andy). • Peter Gallagher — who played easygoing do-gooder dad Sandy Cohen on The O.C. — has been cast for a guest shot on NBC’s Whitney. Gallagher, who currently stars on the USA series Covert Affairs, will play the father to Whitney Cummings’ title character in an as-yet-to-be scheduled episode of the freshman sitcom. Source
  • CSI has tapped TV’s go-to scoundrel, Titus Welliver (Sons of Anarchy, The Good Wife, Lost), to play a villainous new foe to Russell and Co. in multiple episodes. Welliver’s character, John, is a slick, arrogant and powerful military contractor who is questioned about his company’s role in a recent arms theft. Although cooperative, Russell suspects John knows more than he’s letting on. The role is the centerpiece of a major storyline that sources say ties into the looming departure of Marg Helgenberger’s Catherine. Annabeth Gish was just cast Cat’s old friend and the suspicious, fearful wife of Welliver’s John. Source
  • NBC’s Community — which last year defied convention by doing a Christmas-themed stop-motion animated installment —this season a musical episode. The episode finds the study group being forced to fill in for Greendale’s glee club during the always-busy holiday season. Source
