- Showtime has renewed Weeds. The cable network has ordered a 13-episode eighth season of the Mary Louise Parker-fronted comedy to debut in 2012. Source
- Billy Crystal, the nine-time Oscar host has agreed to replace Eddie Murphy as emcee of the next Academy Awards ceremony. Source
- Jenna Elfman, best known as half of Dharma and Greg‘ s’ title couple, will guest star in the second season finale of Showtime’s Shameless. The actress plays Jill, “a woman with a dangerous past and an awkward present,” according to the network. Source
- Pretty Little Liars will be back to spin lies and uncover secrets on Monday, Jan. 2 at 8/7c, followed by new episodes of The Lying Game. Last summer’s freshman hit Switched at Birth moves to Tuesdays at 8 pm with its Season 1.5 debut on Jan. 3, leading into the series premiere of the fashion-centric Jane By Design. Source
- Season 2 of Starz’ Spartacus: Vengeance will debut on Friday, Jan. 27 at 10 pm. Source
- Southland Shawn Hatosy — who just guested on CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 — will guest star on CBS Criminal Minds. He will play Jimmy Hill, a backroom boxer who despite his so-so skills keeps fighting to raise money for his dying son, in a December episode. Source
