  • Academy Award winner Anjelica Huston has been cast in NBC and executive producer Steven Spielberg’s musical pilot Smash. Her character is described as a shrewd, dry, smart, cynical New York City theatre producer. The show traces the creation of a musical from conception to opening night. Source
  • Ugly Betty star Becki Newton has signed on to star in a CBS comedy pilot that revolves around a blue-collar man who lives under the same roof with his wife, their grown daughter (Newton) and her 12-year-old son, and his recently widowed mother. Source
  • Law & Order: SVU‘s has signed John Stamos to guest star in an upcoming episode as an adoption attorney. Stamos’ character will be revealed to have a secret passion of his own. Source
  • Showtime has renewed freshman shows Episodes and Shameless both for a second season. Source both shows’ sophomore runs will start later this year with an eye on 2012 premieres. Source
  • Former CSI actress Liz Vasey will guest star on ABC’s Castle. She will play a real estate broker who gets caught in the middle of New York’s pizza wars. Source
  • TV Land has renewed the sitcom Hot in Cleveland for a 22 episodes third season. Source
  • Lost actor Josh Holloway is in the process of closing a deal to make a cameo in Community’s two-part season finale. It’s set for May. He will emerge as a mysterious figure who shows up on campus during another game of paintball. Source
