Following a 2-script pickup last week, NBC has given new drama series Grimm a full-season pickup with a Back 9 order.
Additionally, NBC, which opted to keep Grimm in its original low-trafficked Friday 9 PM slot on the recently released midseason schedule, is giving the fairytale procedural a tryout in the Thursday 10 PM slot. A new Grimm episode will air on Thursday Dec. 8, followed by another original in the series’ regular Friday 9 PM berth the following night. Grimm exceeded expectations with its debut, which posted a 2.1 demo rating on Friday airing against Game 7 of the World Series.
It has become the only freshman NBC drama to get a full-season order, joining comedies Up All Night and Whitney.
Inspired by the classic Grimm’s Fairy Tales, Grimm centers on Portland homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) who discovers he is descended from an elite line of criminal profilers known as “Grimms,” charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world.
