EMMY AWARDS 2011 – Preview – Outstanding Comedy Series

This category has two first time nominees: The Big Bang Theory and Parks and Recreation. The Big Bang Theory is the only multicamera show nominated. The last time a multicamera show won for Outstanding Comedy was Everybody Loves Raymond. We love The Big Bang Theory but we honestly believe that they have a very low chance to win, due to only a few nominations and the lack of publicity (even thought it has high ratings-most viewers). Parks and Recreation could be the spoiler to win and take home the trophy. It had its best season yet and it’s been widely acclaimed however its other big nomination is Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (and that might not be enough for them to win).

Returning nominees and winners like The Office and 30 Rock will probably always have a chance to win. 30 Rock won 3 times in a row, and The Office won the year before 30 Rock’s winning streak.

Outstanding Comedy reigning champ Modern Family returns to try and keep its title. It has 17 nominations, and all the adult cast members are up for Outstanding Supporting Actors. They have continued with its incredible funny performances and writing. We believe they have a good chance to win again.

The comedy/musical Glee is always a contender. The show has taken 2 Golden Globes in a row, however they lack of an Emmy. We believe their biggest chance to win was the first season (last year). Not only critics but also fans criticized season 2. We don’t know what the voters would feel about this highly publicized show, we believe either they love it or hate it.

Prediction: Not unanimous – Glee or Modern Family

Spoiler: Parks and Recreation

Wish Winner: Modern Family
